Not going anywhere: John Calipari confirms he’s agreed to lifetime contract, will finish career at Kentucky

John Calipari will be in Lexington for the long haul.
During his radio show Monday evening, Calipari confirmed that he’d agreed to a “lifetime contract” with Kentucky. The first report surfaced earlier Monday from The Athletic’s Seth Davis.
UCLA reportedly made a six-year, $48 million offer to Calipari, but he’s already making $9.2 million per year. Leaving Kentucky for another college job was never really in doubt, but the university just received some major peace of mind with the extension.
Another nugget in Davis’ report is that Calipari will become an ambassador for the university after retiring from coaching.

Calipari on his coach’s show said he and UK had been talking for awhile about finishing his career at UK. It wasn’t about any other offers.

The timing couldn’t be more perfect either, as Kentucky formally introduced Calipari as Kentucky’s head coach 10 years ago today.
Kentucky’s season ended Sunday following the Elite 8 loss to Auburn.
