The most common question for Mark Stoops each summer at SEC Media Days is what Kentucky will do to break the historic streak against Florida — currently at 31 games.

SEC Network analyst Chris Doering believes that number will extend to 32 this season in Gainesville, while his colleague Peter Burns disagrees. But as streaks go, Doering sees one of the more under-the-radar runs continue for the Wildcats over South Carolina. He sees them making it five straight, which is one of the few lowlights so far in the Will Muschamp era in Columbia.

That, combined with presumed wins in five of the last six games, could be enough to cement Stoops’ standing in Lexington in his sixth year at the helm. One of those would include an improbable second straight win over Tennessee, something the Wildcats haven’t done since the late 1970s.

Overall, an 8-4 mark would be the high-water mark for Stoops at Kentucky, and the most wins for the program since the Rich Brooks-coached team in 2007.
