Derek Stingley, one of LSU’s most-hyped players, will be out of action on Saturday against Mississippi State.

According to a report by The Athletic, cornerback Stingley injured his foot at practice on Wednesday and could be unavailable for an extended period of time per an unidentified source.

LSU plays at Mississippi State at noon on Saturday. Losing Stingley will certainly present some challenges. He is widely considered one of the top defensive backs in the nation and would be key in helping the Tigers slow the Bulldogs Air Raid offense, which is led by coach Mike Leach. Re

Leach’s offense put up 623 yards last season against LSU, which was also without Stingley in the season opener against Mississippi State in 2019. LSU has also lost defensive end Andre Anthony. The senior suffered a season-ending knee injury last week against Central Michigan.
