Ed Orgeron confirms injury to starting safety Rickey Jefferson
LSU coach Ed Orgeron has confirmed Thursday morning reports that starting safety Rickey Jefferson suffered a major leg injury in Wednesday’s practice.

The senior from Destrehan, La. has recorded 23 tackles and one interception through five games. Jefferson has played extensively since his true freshman season in 2013. Jefferson started every game this season and in 2015.
Jefferson will be replaced in the starting lineup by John Battle, a junior.

After an unscheduled bye week due to Hurricane Matthew, LSU will play its sixth game of the season on Saturday against Southern Miss.
