LSU head coach Ed Orgeron met with the media during Monday’s SEC teleconference and he provided updates on several hot-button issues.

Orgeron on Danny Etling:
“Game manager. The first reason we opened it up is because we have a new offense. See what they can do, see what Matt (Canada) can do. No one has beaten Danny out yet, although we’ve yet to see Myles Brennan. When he’s healthy, he’ll be tough to beat.”

On potential new redshirt rule (allowing players to play in 4 games and keep a redshirt season):
“I love it… You have some offenses running 100 plays, the more guys you can play would be great.”

On early signing period:
I have no choice, I have to deal with it. I would not have voted on it but it may work out to our advantage. We have no choice right now.

Orgeron on Rawleigh Williams:
“I feel bad for him, great back. I feel bad for him and his family.”
