In an NFL season that began with a “Tank for Tua” campaign for the Miami Dolphins and Alabama QB Tua Tagovailoa, it has shifted in recent weeks to LSU QB Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals. With a few weeks left in the season, the NFL Draft order is not yet set for 2020.

But former Cincinnati Bengals QB Boomer Esiason has joined the chorus in the notion that Burrow may be the No. 1 overall pick and land in Cincinnati. Esiason hosted Burrow on the NFL Today, the CBS Sports NFL pregame show on Sunday, to present him a gift.

“Back in 2003, we had a guy by the name of Carson Palmer, have you heard of that name,” Esiason said. “He was the first overall pick, and he went to the Bengals. So I want to welcome you from one Bengal to the next Bengal, your helmet for next year.”

CBS Sports then showed a sign in Paul Brown Stadium that said “Eye of the Tiger,” an obvious reference to Burrow.

“Joe, I put you in a tough spot here, I’m sorry about that,” Esiason said. “But it’s gotta be an exciting time for you, just knowing that you’re still in the College Football Playoff, but also, your hopes and dreams are right around the corner in the NFL.”

Burrow said his focus is winning the next two games for coach Ed Orgeron, LSU and the state of Louisiana.
