When Jabbar Juluke was relieved of his duties as running backs coach, LSU planned to move to him another position within the athletic department. Juluke has decided he would rather work as on-field coach, so he is going back to Texas Tech.

“I’m excited to join the staff Coach Kingsbury has assembled,” Juluke said in a Texas Tech release. “Coach Kingsbury is very highly respected as one of the top offensive coaches in the country, so I’m looking forward to building on Texas Tech’s success the past few seasons.”

Juluke was briefly on Texas Tech’s staff in 2016, but departed after National Singing Day to join LSU. He will hold the title of Associate Head Coach and work with Red Raiders running backs.

“We are thrilled to welcome Coach Juluke and his family back to Lubbock,” Kingsbury said. “Coach Juluke has worked with several tremendous running backs over his career and his knowledge of that position will greatly benefit our offense. His experience on the recruiting trail is also very valuable, and I know he will have a significant impact in all phases of our program.”

Juluke’s extensive ties to New Orleans could set up for some head-to-head recruiting battles between his current employer and former employer. Ed Orgeron’s decision to dismiss Juluke has led to reports of New Orleans are high school coaches meeting Thursday to discuss a possible boycott of the Tigers.

The Tigers added a new assistant with New Orleans ties, Mickey Joseph, to the staff on Tuesday.
