Greg McElroy is high on the No. 14 LSU Tigers (2-1) after their 41-14 dominating road win over Mississippi State in Week 3 to open SEC play. McElroy was on the Always College Football show for his instant reaction to Week 3 games, including the Tigers’ big win.

“LSU, maybe the performance of the day. Going on the road to a Mississippi State team that hadn’t looked great at this point, but offensively and defensively, LSU was completely dominant,” he said.

McElroy was also pleased with the LSU quarterback, and offered a projection of the SEC West race.

“Jayden Daniels, it was at the best I’ve probably ever seen him play in an LSU uniform, which is saying something because he has had some great performances, the ball almost never hit the ground,” McElroy said. “Malik Neighbors was uncoverable. They were able to hit him in the slot fade multiple times. Timely 4th down conversions from LSU that escaped him a couple of weeks ago against Florida State, but they were definitely able to figure it out today against Mississippi State. LSU looking like, at worst, the second-best team in the SEC.”

LSU is 2 weeks removed from its bad 45-24 Week 1 loss to the No. 8 Florida State Seminoles 45-24. The Tigers are now No. 12 in the new AP Poll after their dominating win.
