LSU has announced that two players will wear the No. 18 jersey for the 2019 season.
Junior center Lloyd Cushenberry and junior OLB K’lavon Chaisson have been awarded the prestigious uniform number; however, there’s a slight twist. Cushenberry likely will wear the No. 18 patch as opposed to the number on the uniform — o-linemen can’t technically wear No. 18. He wears No. 79.
LSU took Cushenberry to SEC Media Days last month. He was a 13-game starter last season, and he’s certainly been a team leader.
Chaisson, on the other hand, suffered a season-ending knee injury against Miami in Week 1 of 2018. He recorded five tackles, along with one sack, before going down for the season. He’s arguably the best player nobody is talking about and a candidate to come out of nowhere to be a big-time producer for LSU.
The Tigers announced the two players in a tweet Thursday night:

The No. 18 uniform is an LSU football tradition. Jacob Hester and Bennie Logan, among others, have worn the uniform in the past. Last season, Foster Moreau wore the number.
