LSU drains buzzer beater to knock off No. 17 Kentucky in Baton Rouge
LSU and Kentucky delivered one of the most exciting finishes of the season in the SEC, with the Tigers taking down the No. 17 Wildcats on a buzzer beater to win 75-74.
John Calipari’s squad nearly pulled off a road win in the final minute. LSU extended its lead to 73-69 with 1:04 to go. Kentucky’s Rob Dillingham scored the next 5 points on a layup, a free throw and a jumper. Up 74-73 with 13 seconds to go, UK had its first lead since 58-57 (8:01), needing one last stop to escape with a win.
Jordan Wright had his jumper blocked with 2 seconds remaining. He tracked down the ball and found Tyrell Ward for a buzzer beater.

Kentucky had the game’s two top scorers. Antonio Reeves scored 25 points on 8-of-15 field-goal shooting, including 3-of-5 3-pointers and 6 free throws. Dillingham had a nearly identical line, with 1 fewer triple and 1 fewer free throw to log 23 points.
Ward was LSU’s high scorer, as the buzzer beater gave him 17 points for the night. Ward was 5-of-10 from the field, making 3-of-4 3-pointers and going 4-of-4 at the line.
LSU made only 64% of its free throws, but the Tigers made it to the line 25 times to UK’s 12 free throws. The Tigers were the better rebounding team, 38-30.
