LSU has picked up a big addition to its 2023 recruiting class Friday. Brian Kelly’s staff went into Big Ten territory to land a commitment from the No. 1 player in the state of Minnesota.

Blue-chip edge defender Jaxon Howard, who picked up 60 scholarship offers during his recruitment, committed to LSU over Miami, Michigan and Minnesota. He revealed his decision live on the CBS Sports HQ streaming channel:

A Minneapolis native, Howard is listed at 6-4, 245 pounds. The Robbinsdale Cooper standout is rated 4-stars, the No. 11 edge defender and No. 96 prospect overall nationally in the class of 2023 on the 247Sports Composite. Howard is the son of former NFL defensive lineman Willie Howard, a Stanford alumnus.
