LA_TPIt’s always fun to check out the local newspapers after a huge football game, just to see what the creative headline writers came up with.

It was sad times throughout Louisiana after LSU got trounced by Alabama 30-16 Saturday night in a huge SEC West showdown. The covers were found at the www.newseum.org site.

In New Orleans, the Times-Picayune got creative with a play on words of an old Tommy James & The Shondells song, using the headline CRIMSON AND CLOBBERED. It’s not as sweet-sounding as the original “Crimson & Clover” but it sure got the point across. The Tigers did indeed get clobbered.

And you might have heard some Alabama fans singing a verse or two of that song after the game. It would have fit.

“Yeah, my, my such a sweet thing. I wanna do everything.  What a beautiful feeling. Crimson and clover, over and over.”

And in Baton Rouge, it was simply ROLLED OVER in the Baton Rouge Advocate. That pretty much sums it up, too.

Of course, the Alabama newspapers were able to have much for more. Here’s the link to all those covers. Alabama newspaper covers.
