Two LSU players from New Orleans were predictably unhappy after finding out about a banner that referenced Hurricane Katrina.

The banner was hung at an off-campus apartment near the University of Alabama campus. It said, “Finish what Katrina started,” in reference to the 2005 natural disaster that caused massive damage to New Orleans and other parts of Louisiana and killed over 1,000 people.

Tigers linebackers Donnie Alexander and Deion Jones, both New Orleans natives, voiced their displeasure about the sign on Twitter.

New York Giants receiver Odell Beckham Jr., a New Orleans native who played at LSU, was also unhappy about the banner.

LSU running back Leonard Fournette is also from New Orleans, and he sent out a tweet Friday night that might have been a response to the banner.

The University of Alabama released a statement on Friday night, distancing itself from the banner. It said, “UA is appalled that anyone would display a banner with such an inappropriate and offensive statement. It’s our understanding that the banner was hung at an off-campus apartment complex, and it has been removed.”
