Derrius Guice added more hardware this week following a huge game Saturday at Ole Miss when he became the only player in SEC history to notch three games of at least 250 yards rushing.

He’s the only player in LSU history to rush for 250 yards or more in a game twice (252 at Arkansas, 2016; 285 at Texas A&M, 2016).

Guice’s a 276-yard rushing performance Saturday helped him earn the Maxwell Award National Player of the Week honors, the Maxwell Football Club announced on Tuesday. The Maxwell Award National Player of the Week is given each week to the player with the overall performance on offense, defense or special teams.

The Texas A&M game last year gave Guice LSU’s single-game rushing record. Guice’s 276 yards against the Rebels ranks as the third-highest total in LSU history and is the fifth-most in the FBS this season. Also this week, Guice earned the league’s offensive player of the week honor for the fourth time in his career.

Guice’s 711 yards and six touchdowns puts him No. 2 in the SEC in total yards and yards per game (101.6).
