You don’t often see a player as wide open as Russell Shepard was near the goal line on Sunday against the Chicago Bears.

Shepard made an LSU connection with Odell Beckham, Jr. stand up on a 49-yard touchdown pass early in the third quarter to give the New York Giants a 17-14 lead. There wasn’t a Chicago defender within at least five yards as Shepard trotted across the goal line.

It simultaneously was a cure for the Giants’ passing woes, and was Beckham’s second touchdown pass of the season.

Several Giants fans and media quickly pointed out that Beckham has more 40-plus yard touchdown passes this season than QB Eli Manning.
