What Kirby Smart said about LSU, Death Valley atmosphere after lopsided loss to Tigers

The Georgia Bulldogs took their undefeated record into Death Valley to take on LSU on Saturday afternoon and left with a lopsided loss.
The Bulldogs looked good at times in the 36-16 loss the Tigers, but LSU controlled the game and earned a huge victory.
After the game, Georgia coach Kirby Smart complimented coach Ed Orgeron and the Tigers, saying QB Joe Burrow did a good job against the Bulldogs’ defense (via 247Sports):
“LSU did a helluva job,” he said. “Their quarterback played really well. He got them in the right plays on a lot of run-checks and we didn’t tackle very well defensively, as we’ve seen before. And then offensively we couldn’t get any rhythm in the second quarter and it was frustrating all day. We had some plays where we missed some opportunities. But we didn’t make some plays when we had to, and we probably lost the kicking game for the first time, too, and that’s not indicative of who we are.
“But I don’t want to take away anything from LSU and Coach Orgeron. They did a tremendous job. Their fans had a tremendous environment. We’ve got a standard at Georgia we play to and we didn’t do that today. The good news is we get the opportunity to go out and work to get better.”
Did the Death Valley environment affect the Dawgs? Smart weighed in on that, too:
“I don’t know,” he said. “It didn’t seem like we had a lot of penalties because of that. I thought we communicated well. Where it probably affected us more was communication from our sideline to our wide receivers and tight ends. The quarterback and O-line I don’t think had any false starts. It didn’t affect us there. I think it helps their get-off and their burst but that’s always the case at home. They certainly had a great crowd and a great atmosphere.”
The Bulldogs have a bye next weekend and then head to Jacksonville to take on the resurgent Florida Gators.
