Andrew Taylor is heading to the SEC. The standout Marshall transfer announced his commitment to Mississippi State on Saturday night.

It’s a huge win for Bulldogs head coach Chris Jans to land Taylor, who averaged 20.2 points per game for the Thundering Herd last season. According to college basketball insider Jon Rothstein, Taylor also received interest from Auburn, Florida, Kentucky, LSU, Ole Miss, Indiana, Michigan, Miami, Memphis and others.

Taylor is using his “COVID year” to finish his college basketball career in Starkville. He redshirted his first year at Marshall before becoming a 4-year starter, playing in 110 games. The NCAA’s COVID-19 waiver grants him a 6th season of eligibility.

Taylor has consistently scored in double figures in his college career. He averaged 10.1 points per game in his redshirt freshman season (2019-20). His production has increased every year, reaching 20.2 points per game in the 2022-23 season.

The 6-3, 185-pound Taylor also averaged 5.0 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game over his Marshall career. He has shot 42.8% from the floor over 4 seasons, making 35.5% of his 3-point attempts.
