Fans bashing ESPN after network showed video of Jeffery Simmons hitting a woman
ESPN had the package ready to go Thursday night.
Following the Tennessee Titans selection of former Mississippi State standout Jeffery Simmons in the first round, the network showed the video of Simmons assaulting a woman in 2016.
During his time at MSU, Simmons was a model citizen and has repeatedly taken full responsibility for his actions. Because of the incident, Simmons wasn’t invited to the NFL Combine, but he was allowed to interview with teams at the event.
While training for his Pro Day, Simmons unfortunately tore his ACL while working out and will miss the season for the Titans.
Below is the video from ESPN as shared by Trey Wallace on draft night:

Fans didn’t think it was appropriate to show Simmons’ video on the biggest night of his life.
ESPN just learned this about Jeffery Simmons? The kid became a model citizen at Miss. State. He’s come a long way and trying now to overcome a torn ACL. And on the best night of his life, ESPN pulls this bullshit and acts like it’s fair and balanced journalism. Typical ESPN poo.

Someone start a thread of Jeffery Simmons’ highlights since ESPN failed to do so.

@ESPN treatment of the Jeffery Simmons situation was disgusting. Best moment of third kids young life and you throw a high school mistake in his face. Shame on @espn

@espn whoever made the decision to have that JEFFERY SIMMONS segment go on for 20 mins should be fired we get it you don't want another ray rice situation etc but the guy is defending his sister and even stops his sister from hitting her more

It’s completely ridiculous that the Jeffery Simmons tape was shown on @espn as soon a he was drafted and not even a single clip of him on the field was shown.

ESPN can piss off with that Jeffery Simmons bit. Biggest day of a kid’s life and they do a 5 minute segment on his worst mistake. AND they show the video?? Don’t recall seeing the video of Baker Mayfield getting speared by the Little Rock police on his draft night

If I’m Jeffery Simmons, the first thing I’m doing is suing ESPN.

Pretty disappointed with @espn and their coverage of Jeffery Simmons. This should be a positive night for these young men, instead it's taken in a completely different direction. #NFLDraft
