Mississippi State is looking for a new linebackers coach after Chris Marve left to join Mike Norvell’s staff at Florida State. Some former Bulldogs players are advocating for Joe Moorhead to look to the Sunshine State for Marve’s replacement.

KJ Wright tweeted that MSU should hire former Bulldog Jamar Chaney for the position. Chaney is currently an off-field assistant (Assistant Director of Player Personnel – HS Relations) on Dan Mullen’s Florida staff.

“Let’s bring back a Mississippi State Legend for this open linebacker coaching job! Personally took me under his wings and taught me how to be a baller in college! We need more bulldogs in the building! @Jamar51Chaney would be perfect 🏈” Wright wrote on Twitter, tagging the official accounts of Mississippi State athletics and MSU football.

Fellow former Mississippi State linebacker Juan Long seconded Wright.

“We definitely need more Bulldogs in the building. As a former @HailStateFB LB, i definitely agree w/ this idea,” Long replied.

Chaney stepped down as coach of St. Lucie West Centennial High School (Florida) in February to join the Gators staff.
