It appears Mississippi State may continue to lose depth on the line of scrimmage.

Just days after defensive lineman Fabien Lovett entered the NCAA transfer portal, Mississippi State lineman and Alabama native Brevyn Jones has also entered the transfer database. Matt Zenitz of AL.com was the first to report the news.

Lovett’s father has since come out and said Mike Leach’s controversial tweet was part of the reason for his son’s decision to enter the transfer portal. Leach has since apologized for sending out the tweet.

Jones has confirmed the news of his decision to enter the NCAA transfer portal.

As always, it should be noted that players can return to their original school after entering the transfer portal. Entering the portal simply allows other programs to contact Jones in regards to a potential transfer from Mississippi State, it does not guarantee that he won’t be back in Starkville for next season.

Jones signed with Mississippi State as a member of the 2019 recruiting cycle out of Huffman High School in Birmingham. He was rated as a three-star prospect in the class and the No. 61 overall recruit from the state of Alabama.

Prior to signing with Mississippi State, Jones was committed to playing his college football at Tulane.
