Mississippi State beats out Georgia, NC State for pledge from JUCO CB
Mississippi State just beat out the likes of Georgia and NC State for a coveted JUCO cornerback transfer out of East Mississippi Community College’s Brylan Lanier.
Lanier has limited experience in the D1 ranks, too. The former 3-star prospect and Tuscaloosa native originally landed at Alabama before transferring to Indiana in 2022. He then re-entered the portal and transferred to the JUCO ranks.
Now, he’s heading to Starkville. Here’s his post on social media announcing his commitment:

Though Lanier is from the JUCO ranks, this marks the Bulldogs’ 2nd secondary addition from the transfer portal. Lanier joins former Memphis defensive back Tre Wright.
The Bulldogs also did some work to add to their secondary in the 2024 recruiting class, landing 4 prospects: Tyler Woodard, Jatavious Johnson, Elijah Cannon and Cyrus Reyes.
