Mississippi State defensive back DeCarlos Nicholson has decided on where he will play in 2024. The talented defender entered the transfer portal on Dec. 7 after spending 2 seasons with the Bulldogs.

On Wednesday, Nicholson took to social media to announce his decision to commit to the USC Trojans.

“Everybody going the same route I switched up my route!” proclaimed Nicholson.

Nicholson starred for Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College before being recruited to the Bulldogs in 2021. Over 2 seasons in Starkville, Nicholson collected 47 tackles and 3 pass defenses. The defensive back originally committed to the Kentucky Wildcats back in 2021. However, on National Signing Day 2021, Nicholson flipped to the Bulldogs.

The former Bulldog is the 4th defensive player the Trojans have added via the portal thus far. Nicholson joins Akili Arnold, Easton Mascarenas-Arnold, and Nate Clifton.

The Bulldogs, meanwhile, have lost a ton of talent in the portal. Defenders Decamerion Richardson, Will James, Jamari Brown, and Jacarius Clayton have all jumped in the portal. Also, running back Jo’Quavious Marks has committed to the Trojans and will join Nicholson in Los Angeles.

First-year head coach Jeff Lebby will have work to do to rebuild this defense for 2024.
