The Mississippi State Bulldogs are preparing to take on the Louisville Cardinals in the TaxSlayer Bowl on Saturday, Dec. 30.

However, they’ll now start to prepare without DB Jamal Peters, who announced on Sunday that he would miss the bowl game.

Sadly, Peters won’t be able to play due to a death in the family, one that he said was “a rough one” for him and his family members:

In a bit of good news for Mississippi State fans, he did announce that he’d be returning for his senior season. However, Bulldog fans will be sending their thoughts and prayers to the junior defender this holiday season as he grieves.

Peters played in all 12 regular-season games this year, recording 23 tackles and one interception, which he returned 90 yards for a touchdown.
