It was a day to remember for Mississippi State. In fact, the Bulldogs have never done what they did Saturday in a 54-24 win over Arkansas.

The Bulldogs collected 640 total yards, the most in an SEC game in school history, with 460 rushing — also a school record — and 180 passing. That rushing number on 57 carries meant it was an average of 8.1 yards per carry. That helped them control the time of possession with 40:09 of ball control versus 19:51 for Arkansas. The win snapped a four-game losing streak for MSU, and the Bulldogs now have a chance at a bowl game and .500 season as they improved to 4-5 and 2-4 in the SEC.

Kylin Hill was responsible for many of those yards as he ran for a career-high 234 yards and three touchdowns. He had 198 of his 234 yards during the first half which marked the most rushing yards in a half by a MSU player in school history. He became the 16th player in school history to rush for over 2,000 yards in his career.

Hill’s 234 yards are the fifth-most in a game in school history and the most since Nick Fitzgerald had 258 yards against Ole Miss in 2016. The junior running back is tied for sixth in MSU single season history for 100-yard rushing games with six and ranks 10th in career history with nine.
