Report: Mississippi State losing rising sophomore DB to NCAA transfer portal
The Mississippi State Bulldogs have lost a few players to the NCAA transfer portal this offseason, and on Tuesday, it was reported that another player would be joining that list.
Per 247Sports, rising sophomore S Jarrian Jones is going to enter the portal and explore his transfer options.
Jones was a 4-star recruit coming out of high school in Flowood, Mississippi. He was the No. 18 safety in the class of 2019 and the No. 13 overall recruit from the state of Mississippi, per the 247Sports composite rankings.
Jones had 12 tackles, defended 2 passes and recovered a fumble for the Bulldogs during the 2019 season. Where he ends up next remains to be seen.
Is it the starkness of Starkville or is Coach Leach making um walk the plank?
This kid looks good on paper. Four-star, #18 Safety from just a year ago.
He could be a good addition, if he doesn’t have to sit out a season.

The only thing of interest would be if he ends up in Gainesville. One OL has already transferred…more poaching?
Not going to Gainesville. The OL that transferred was a grad transfer who has a brother that plays for the Gators and was a Mullen recruit. Word is Jones may end up at Ole Miss (T-Buck is now their DB Coach)….that tells me he never bought into the MSU culture to feel good about that move. Then again the previous regime never understood what MSU is all about either. Moorehead was soft…Mullen was not nor is Leach.
Leach is a no nonsense coach,won’t let them get away with things like MOHEAD did..but Dancin Dan might have had something to do with it.

Been telling him…they are now saying that the Kibbles may be behind the players transferring. Jones went to Oxford for a couple of days and then enters the transfer portal. Lovett is also said to be going there…might be a tampering investigation. Leach doesn’t realize how down and dirty UM gets, but we do too when we need to.
