What Mike Leach said after Mississippi State's loss to Alabama
Mike Leach took his players to task after the loss to Alabama on Saturday night, as the Bulldogs fell 30-6, and didn’t score until the final seconds of the game.
Mississippi State gave up 290 yards to Alabama, but held the Crimson Tide to 29 yards rushing. Penalties were a problem for State as they rang up 10 for 100 yards in the loss.
There was a noteworthy development at the end. State’s touchdown on the final play was the first touchdown Mississippi State had managed against the Tide in 3 meetings under Leach, as the Bulldogs were outscored 120-15.
Here’s what Leach discussed with the media:
Mike Leach: “We’ve got some guys that are afraid of the jersey that says Alabama… you want to scare some of the guys on our team, put an Alabama jersey on. It’ll scare the hell out of them.”

First question to Mike Leach: How was it balancing Sam Westmoreland’s death with preparing for a game?
“It was tough.”

Mike Leach is discussing dinosaurs, gas stations and natural selection to explain Mississippi State’s need to have better hands.

The payoff to Mike Leach’s dinosaur story: He’s “genuinely fearful” that his players’ descendants’ hands will fall off from lack of use after struggles catching today.

Leach went on to say practice was tough this week with everyone understandably wrapped up in their teammate’s passing. https://t.co/jjkWUKv5rR
