Eli Drinkwitz and the Missouri Tigers have failed to build on momentum from a 5-5 finish in 2020.
Now, the Tigers have fallen to 3-4 on the season after a 35-14 home loss to Texas A&M on Saturday. That wasn’t a game many were expecting Mizzou to win, but the offensive problems, coupled with a horrible run defense, have people scratching their heads.
QB Connor Bazelak threw 2 costly first-half interceptions and didn’t throw for a touchdown in the game.
After the loss, Drinkwitz addressed the media. Here’s some of what he had to say:
On Bazelak’s job security:
Eli Drinkwitz says he didn't consider replacing QB Connor Bazelak. Said "Connor is our quarterback" and he gives us the best chance to win.

On last year’s 5-5 record misleading fans about the rebuilding process:
Some pretty candid comments from Drinkwitz after this game, admits last year's team probably overachieved. "Maybe I got the fan base too excited. … But we can't skip steps."

About making costly mistakes and hurting themselves:
Drinkwitz: "Before we can win a championship we have to keep from beating ourselves."

On conservative play-calling just before halftime:
Eliah Drinkwitz said he wanted to keep A&M from getting the ball back on the sequence that ended the first half, and added that he understands why some people were upset.

The Tigers are off next Saturday, then face Vanderbilt. We’ll see if they can sort some things out during the off week.
