Former Mizzou head coach Barry Odom was named the Mountain West Coach of the Year Tuesday afternoon after leading the Rebels to a 9-3 season.

The honor comes during Odom’s first year with the Rebels, reaching 9 wins for the first time since 1984. The Rebels will fight for the Mountain West title against Boise State this Saturday at Noon.

UNLV was picked to finish 9th in the preseason Mountain West poll.

Odom had an average tenure at Missouri from 2016 to 2019, finishing with a pair of winning seasons in 2017 and 2018. The Tigers reached No. 18 in the country in 2018 and finished with an 8-5 record after losing the Liberty Bowl to Oklahoma State.

He was fired after posting a 6-6 record in 2019 after positive progress the previous 3 seasons. He then went to Arkansas and served as an assistant before landing the UNLV job this past offseason.
