Joseph Charleston is not done yet! After leading Missouri’s defense in tackles during the 2023 season, the veteran defensive back confirmed Saturday he will be back for one more run in 2024.

Charleston’s announcement was fantastic with Mizzou dropping a video of the defender reflecting on his time in the program. It felt like the video was building up to something, just not the decision Charleston ultimately revealed.

“My time here has been amazing. I think you get put in certain places and areas for a reason. I definitely think I got put here for a reason,” said Charleston. “I chose Mizzou just because when I first got into the facility and started talking to the coaches and everything it was genuine and I could just see myself playing for some people like that.”

Charleston even began his final decision by saying he’s declaring but quickly added “one more year” instead of the NFL Draft. He gives the defense a key presence heading into a crucial 2024 campaign.

“This year, I’ll be declaring for… one more year! Let’s run it back, M-I-Z! Man, get ready! It’s going to be an exciting year,” Charleston confirmed. “There’s going to be a lot of excitement out there and a lot of tenacity out there.”

Charleston already has 5 seasons in college with 3 at Clemson from 2019-21 before transferring to Mizzou. This season, he led the Tigers with 60 total tackles and also delivered 4 pass breakups and a forced fumble.
