Missouri defensive back Aarion Penton was arrested early Friday morning for suspicion of marijuana possession.

Dave Matter of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch first broke the news Friday evening.

A spokesman later confirmed to Matter that Penton has been suspended indefinitely per university policy. According to the Columbia police arrest log, he was in possession of 35 grams or less of marijuana, which is a misdemeanor offense.

This is Penton’s second arrest this year. He was also arrested back in March for suspicion of marijuana possession.

Head coach Gary Pinkel recently praised the growth he’s seen out of Penton and his other starting defensive backs during this week’s coaches teleconference.

So far on the season, Penton has racked up 30 total tackles. His three interceptions and seven pass breakups are good for second and first on the team, respectively.
