Both players only played one season with the team after transferring from junior college schools, Abbington from Fort Zumwalt South and Cuellar from City College of San Francisco.
Abbington only recorded 6 carries for 39 yards last season while Cuellar appeared in eight games. However, both players were expected to be pivotal on this year’s squad.
Abbington was one of only two running backs on the team to play in a college game along with junior Ish Witter. Meanwhile, Cuellar was a serious candidate to start on the line. After being the No. 2 left tackle for most of last season, he was practicing at guard this spring.
Now, the team is thin on experience at running back and just thin, period, on the offensive line, which only has eight scholarship players at the position.
