Missouri opened its season on Thursday night against the Murray State Racers.

This was never expected to be a tight game, and the Tigers immediately proved that they outmatched the Racers. On the Tigers’ first drive, the offense marched down the field and quarterback Brady Cook found star receiver Luther Burden III for a 16-yard touchdown.

The first drive for the Racers would result in a turnover on downs, and the Tigers would waste no time finding the endzone for the second time. Nate Noel scampered into the endzone for a 9-yard score to give the Tigers a 14-point lead.

The next score for the Tigers would come just seconds of game time later, as Toriano Pride Jr. picked off Jayden Johansen and returned it for a 25-yard score. With that defensive score, the Tigers went up 21-0 over the Racers.

The Racers were unable to get anything going on offense, and the Tigers kept getting chances to score. The next TD would come from Marcus Carroll, whose 1-yard score put the Tigers up by 28.

If you think the Tigers were done there, though, you’d be mistaken.

With three seconds left in the first half, Cook scrambled for a 3-yard score to make it a 35-point game heading into halftime.

The Tigers will open the second half with a huge lead and will just hope to advance to Week 2 injury-free.
