Losing a player as talented as Brandon Marshall, who signed a two-year deal with the Giants this offseason, would seem like a loss to many football fans. However, according to at least one of his former Jets teammates, the team could gain an addition via subtraction with Marshall now playing for New York’s other NFL franchise.

Coming off a career year in 2015 (109 catches, 1,502 yards, 14 touchdowns), Marshall took a significant step back on the field last season (59 catches, 788 yards, three touchdowns) in what would be an end to his Jets career. After only two seasons with the club, the Jets released the veteran receiver in early March. It didn’t take long for Marshall to sign with the Giants.

Following the start of Jets OTAs this week, Richardson made it clear why he believes the locker room would be a better place this season in New York. The former standout Missouri lineman and four-year NFL veteran took a clear shot at his former Jets teammate Marshall — who just so happened to wear No. 15 for the team the last two seasons.

“Let’s just say there are 15 reasons why it’s better,” Richardson said, according to Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News.

Without even mentioning Marshall’s name, Richardson leveled a pretty damning shot at his former teammate. If the Jets offense doesn’t show any signs of regression without Marshall or if the veteran receiver’s game continues to backslide with the Giants, Richardson will be proven accurate in his assessment.
