Eli Drinkwitz and the Missouri Tigers remained perfect on Saturday, defeating the Memphis Tigers by a score of 34-27. With a win, the Tigers remained perfect on the season heading into SEC play.
Drinkwitz spoke about the opening kickoff in which the Tigers appeared to recover an onside kick. However, the Tigers were flagged for a false start and Memphis received the ball.
Drinkwitz expressed disappointment on the “inexcusable” false start call on the onside kick to begin the game:
“We knew we were going to be aggressive, we had seen the look.”

Drinkwitz then pivoted to talking about his QB, praising Brady Cook’s “mental and physical” toughness.

Cook finished the day with 341 passing yards and 2 TDs.
Mizzou fans received a scare when star receiver Luther Burden III left the game. Fortunately, it appears this was nothing more than cramping.
Luther Burden left the game with cramping and received an IV in the locker room, Drinkwitz said.

Burden came down with 10 catches for 177 yards in the matchup.
Finally, Drinkwitz lamented the team’s 3rd down woes. The team went 0-8 on 3rd down, which Drinkwitz described as the worst 3rd down performance of his career.
“I don’t know that I’ve ever been 0 for 8 on 3rd down,” Drinkwitz said. It’ll be a point of emphasis for fixes, he said.

The Tigers now head into SEC play with a 4-0 record. The team will next travel to Nashville to take on the Vanderbilt Commodores.
