Texas A&M sweeps doubleheader to take series against Vanderbilt

The Texas A&M baseball team earned a doubleheader sweep of Vanderbilt on Friday, downing the Commodores 8-4 in the first game and 12-0 in seven innings in the nightcap at Blue Bell Park in Bryan-College Station.
The victories, coming off a 14-8 loss to the Commodores in Thursday’s season opener, gave Texas A&M (25-6 overall, 7-5 SEC) a series victory. Vanderbilt (19-14, 6-6) fell to 1-5 in road games with the consecutive losses.

The Aggies’ 8-4 victory in Friday’s doubleheader opener was powered by Nico Partida, who hit a two-run homer in the first inning, and Gavin Grahovac, who added a solo shot in the sixth. Brodie Johnston and Mike Mancini each hit solo homers for Vanderbilt in the loss.
Texas A&M reliever Gavin Lyons (4-0) earned the victory, while Wyatt Nadeau (1-2) absorbed the loss.
Four Aggies provided home runs in the 12-0 nightcap victory, as Partida, Chris Hacopian and Bear Harrison each hit two-run homers and Blake Binderup added a three-run blast in a 13-hit barrage.
Aiden Sims went the distance for Texas A&M in the victory, scattering three hits and striking out eight Commodores to improve to 6-0. Aiden Stillman (0-1) took the loss for Vanderbilt.
