The Wooden Award has unveiled its midseason top 20 watch list and there’s 4 SEC stars that made the next cut. Arkansas‘ Darius Acuff Jr., Alabama‘s Labaron Philon Jr., Florida’s Thomas Haugh, and Vanderbilt‘s Tyler Tanner were selected for the Wooden watch list.
This watch list is for the Wooden Award All-American team and Player of the Year.
The 6-foot-3, 190-pound Acuff Jr. is a sensational freshman guard who is averaging 20.5 points and 6.3 assists. The Detroit native has scored at least 20 points in his last 4 games, with Arkansas going 3-1 in that span. Acuff Jr. notched a double-double with 21 points and 10 assists in Arkansas’ 83-79 victory at Oklahoma on Jan. 27.
The 6-foot-4, 185-pound Philon Jr. is an Alabama native averaging 21.5 points and 4.9 assists. The outstanding sophomore guard most recently finished with 25 points, 6 assists, five rebounds, two blocks and a steal in Alabama’s 96-92 victory at in-state rival Auburn.
The 6-foot-9, 215-pound Haugh is a junior that’s posting 17.8 points and 6.4 rebounds for the Gators. The junior forward from Pennsylvania has notched back-to-back games with 22 points. In his last outing, Haugh also added seven rebounds, three assists, two blocks, and a steal in Florida’s 86-67 victory at Texas A&M.
The 6-foot, 173-pound Tanner is pacing Vanderbilt with 18.6 points and 5.3 assists. The sophomore guard from Tennessee had a season-high 37 points and five steals along with nine assists and two blocks in Vanderbilt’s 92-91 loss vs. Oklahoma on Saturday.
