CBS Sports’ Matt Norlander released his top 100 and 1 best teams in college basketball for the upcoming season.
It’s the usual mix of blue bloods (North Carolina is No. 1) and some new bloods (Houston, San Diego State) in the top 10.
As expected, the SEC is well represented with Kentucky at No. 2, Arkansas at No. 5 and Tennessee at No. 10. The Wildcats will have 2021-22 Naismith National Player of the Year Oscar Tshiebwe back on the roster in hopes of deep postseason run.
Arkansas, which made the Elite Eight in 2022, has 11 new scholarship players on the roster, but Norlander believes that Eric Musselman can handle the roster turnover.
“Despite major roster turnover from last season, this might be the crew that pushes through to the Final Four,” Norlander writes. “It’s not as easy as Musselman makes it look, but if Arkansas winds up as a top-two team in the SEC, which I’m projecting, taking 11 new scholarship players will amount to coach-of-the-year legitimacy.”
Norlander is high on Tennessee’s toughness and believes that Santiago Vescovi could have a say in the SEC Player of the Year race.
