Dan Hurley flabbergasted by chorus of boos after Final Four win: ‘I don’t know why they’re booing’

Dan Hurley isn’t exactly the most universally beloved head coach in college basketball.
The UConn head coach made headlines last week when he headbutted (?) a referee after the Huskies’ improbable win over Duke. Well before that, Hurley developed a reputation as arrogant, petulant, over-the-top… you get the picture.
Like many dominant entities in sports, Hurley and the Huskies also draw a lot of animosity because they’re consistently great and never seem to lose big games.
Following UConn’s Final Four victory over Illinois, Hurley was interviewed on the court of Lucas Oil Stadium. Shortly after he started speaking, fans in the arena (who could hear Hurley over the loudspeaker) started booing the Huskies head coach. The booing took Hurley completely off-guard, to which he said, while laughing, “I don’t know what- are they booing? The headbutt? I don’t know why they’re booing.”

As if he cares about a little booing.
Dan Hurley has been an absolute monster at UConn. His Huskies are an incredible 18-3 in NCAA Tournament games since he arrived, and 18-1 across the past 4 seasons. He’ll have a chance to win his third national title on Monday.
UConn will face off against the winner of Michigan vs. Arizona, which tipped off about 45 minutes following UConn vs. Illinois. Here’s a look at the odds to win, via Kalshi:
