Dan Hurley is known for his emotions, his sideline antics, his brash statements, and he often gets treated in rather hostile fashion, even when it’s not deserved.
It happened again on Saturday night in Indianapolis after UConn’s latest Final Four victory, a 71-62 triumph over Illinois that sent the Huskies to their latest national title game under Hurley, on Monday night against either Arizona or Michigan.
Hurley was unceremoniously booed while on the court during his postgame interview after UConn’s big victory, even while he said the following in a humble manner about the secret to the program’s sustained success through the years — in men’s and women’s basketball.
“You’re set up for success at UConn. Geno Auriemma, Jim Calhoun, Kevin Ollie, just some incredible coaches before me. Got the best staff in the country. Got an incredible group of players,” said Hurley, giving credit to seemingly everybody but himself even while those boos rained down for whatever reason.
Hurley will try to lead the Huskies to their 7th national title overall and his 3rd crown in 4 years at UConn, whether some fans like it or not.
