Florida guards Boogie Fland, AJ Brown cleared for return, per report
Todd Golden doesn’t have time for rebuilds. After he led the Gators to the 2025 NCAA Tournament championship, Golden hit the transfer portal looking for players to help him defend his newly acquired crown. Now, roughly 7 weeks from their season opener, he has good news about 2 of his pick-ups.
On Thursday, Golden announced that Arkansas transfer Boogie Fland and Ohio transfer AJ Brown have both been “fully cleared for all basketball-related activities.” The news, reported by CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein, gives the Florida guards time to prepare for the 2025-26 campaign.
Fland, a sophomore from New York, started 18 games for the Razorbacks a season ago. He missed 2 months of action — the end of the regular season and the SEC Tournament — due to a thumb injury, but returned and handled a bench role for John Calipari in the NCAA Tournament.
Brown, a redshirt junior out of Orlando, spent three years with the Bobcats before transferring home this offseason. He appeared in 64 games — and started 46 contests — in his Ohio career.
Fland, Brown, and Princeton transfer Xaivian Lee are set to be Golden’s starting guards in 2025. They’re tasked with replacing the incredible production of the departed Walter Clayton Jr., Alijah Martin, and Will Richard.
Those 3 men combined to average 46.0 points, 12.8 rebounds, and 8.3 assists in 2024-25. The 3 transfers produced a combined 47.6 points per game at their respective schools last season. If they replicate those numbers alongside the Gators’ fearsome interior, Florida will have a chance to repeat in March 2026.
