Georgia center Somto Cyril to enter transfer portal, per report

Georgia big man Somto Cyril will play elsewhere in 2026-27 after 2 seasons in Athens. The 6-11 center is expected to enter the transfer portal when it officially opens on April 7, according to a report from Travis Branham.
That’s a gargantuan loss, literally and metaphorically, for Georgia basketball. Cyril could start for most teams in the country, with an impressive block rate and 76% hit rate at the rim, one of the best numbers in college basketball.
Naturally, considering his 6-11, 260-pound frame, Cyril is a monster rebounder and drew a ton of fouls. He only shot 57% from the line in 2026, but improved upon his 49% average from 2025. There’s reason to believe he could pull that number up to 65-70% in 2027 with an offseason of attention.
As you can see above, Cyril averaged just under 10 points, 5.4 rebounds and 2.2 blocks per game this season, and he had a couple of simply incredible performances in SEC play. Notably, he posted 8 blocks in a loss against Arkansas.
As for where he’ll end up, it’s hard to say. A ton of teams are going to be shopping for a starting big man this offseason, and Cyril is likely to be near the top of the list.
