Michigan, UConn issue injury updates on key players ahead of national title game
We have just 1 game left in the NCAA Tournament. Tonight, a champion will be crowned. Connecticut will claim its third championship in 4 seasons — and 7th national title overall — or Michigan will rise to the mountain top for just the second time in school history (1989). Lucky for us, both teams should have their full NCAA Tournament rotations available.
According to ESPN’s Pete Thamel, neither UCONN’s Solo Ball nor Michigan’s Yaxel Lendeborg are listed on the injury report for Monday night’s contest. Two Wolverines — guard L.J. Cason, who tore his ACL at the end of February, and forward Winters Grady, a freshman who’s taking a medical redshirt (foot) and last played on Jan. 2 — are out for the game. Meanwhile, the Huskies will have their full complement of players.
Ball, who did not practice on Sunday, according to head coach Dan Hurley, has averaged 11.7 points per game from the Sweet Sixteen through Final Four. Lendeborg, a first-team All-American and the Big Ten Player of the Year, hurt his ankle in the Final Four. He played only 14 minutes versus Arizona, but scored 11 points and went 3-for-3 from three-point range.
