The Michigan Wolverines punched their ticket to the 2026 National Championship Game on Saturday night with an absolutely dominant showing against the Arizona Wildcats in the Final Four, defeating their Big 12 foes by a final score of 91-72.
Junior point guard Elliot Cadeau was instrumental in the Wolverines blowout against the Wildcats at both ends of the court, racking up 13 points, 10 assists, 5 boards, and 4 steals in his 33 minutes of action.
As it so happens, the NIT is also taking place in Indianapolis this year, and Cadeau told reporters following his team’s Final Four win that he plans on attending the final between Auburn and Tulsa on Sunday to support AU guard and childhood friend Tahaad Pettiford.
“I don’t know what time it is, but if it’s not too late, I’ll definitely be there,” Cadeau said. “You know he was in the Final Four last year and I came to support him there, so, you know, it’s like a brotherhood thing.”
The pair grew up together in the New Jersey area, and were longtime AAU teammates before heading off to college. Pettiford has been with the Tigers for the past 2 seasons, while Cadeau spent his first couple of seasons at North Carolina before transferring into Michigan last offseason.
Now the childhood friends will both be playing in the 2 most prestigious postseason championship games college basketball has to offer and they’ll be doing so in the same city.
