The Alabama Crimson Tide men’s basketball program has been in the midst of a renaissance over the past several years, reaching heights that have never been seen before on the hardwood in Tuscaloosa.
The architect of this golden era in Crimson Tide hoops has been none other than head coach Nate Oats, who has taken the program to multiple Elite 8s and its first-ever Final Four since taking over in 2019.

Oats was rewarded with a substantial pay raise back in 2024 following his team’s run to the Final Four, and it looks like he just got another big extension, with Yea Alabama announcing that Oats has signed a new contract that will make him one of the sports top-5 highest-paid coaches.
“Nate Oats has signed a new contract that will make him one of the top five compensated men’s basketball coaches in the country,” Alabama AD Greg Byrne said, per Yea Alabama. “Appropriate members of the board of trustees have been notified of the proposed terms of the new agreement and it will soon be formally approved through the board process.”
Over the past 7 seasons, Oats has accumulated a 170-73 record and has led the Tide to 2 SEC regular season and tournament championships, 6 appearances in the NCAA Tournament, 2 Sweet 16s, 2 Elite 8s, and that legendary run to the Final Four in 2023.
Oats has completely reshaped the landscape of Alabama basketball, and he will now be locked in down in Title Town for the foreseeable future thanks to this new long-term extension.
