North Carolina adds commitment from sweet-shooting international wing
North Carolina has added a potential rotation piece to the roster ahead of the 2025-26 season.
According to a report from ESPN’s Jonathan Givony, North Carolina has landed a commitment from international wing Luka Bogavac. The 6-foot-5, 200-pound guard from Montenegro has played professionally in the Adriatic Basketball Association (ABA) Liga for 4 years and will be 22 years old when the upcoming season begins.
Bogavac has also represented Montenegro on the international circuit. He played in the FIBA U20 European Championship in 2022 and 2023. He was then a member of the senior Montenegrin national team in the 2024 FIBA Olympic Qualifying tournament and the 2025 FIBA EuroBasket Qualifiers.
In the ABA, Bogavac was a 40% shooter from 3 and one of the league’s top scorers. He averaged 14.9 points per game, the seventh most in the ABA. He shot 45% from the field and 87% from the foul line while also adding 3.6 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 1 steal in 29.7 minutes a night.
Bogavac gives some relief for coach Hubert Davis on the wing following the draft departure of Drake Powell. He’s the second international addition of the offseason, joining Arizona transfer Henri Veesaar, a native of Estonia. He’s also the ninth overall newcomer to join the Tar Heels this offseason.
As North Carolina looks to rebound from another disappointing season under Davis, the program has added 5 transfers and 3 high school recruits.
Derek Peterson does a bit of everything, not unlike Taysom Hill. He has covered Oklahoma, Nebraska, the Pac-12, and now delivers CFB-wide content.
