Texas A&M head coach Bucky McMillan had a successful first year in the SEC. He led the Aggies to the NCAA Tournament and advanced to the second round of the Big Dance. Overall, his transition from Samford went well. The same could be said for one of his players, but the rising senior is hoping for a bigger role in 2026-27.

According to Sam Keyser of League Ready, guard Josh Holloway will be entering the transfer portal. The former Bulldog, who has played all 3 of his collegiate seasons for Bucky McMillan, averaged 4.6 points, 1.7 rebounds and 1.8 assists in 13.4 minutes per game in his lone year at Texas A&M.

Holloway averaged 6.0 points, 2.4 assists and 2.0 rebounds per game in 68 appearances (11 starts) under McMillan at Samford. His presence in College Station gave other Aggies someone with experience playing McMillan’s unique namesake scheme (“Bucky Ball”). He helped instill his head coach’s culture and set a foundation for sustained success following the departure of Buzz Williams. Now, he’s hoping to find more playing time in his final season of eligibility.

Samford and Texas A&M are the only schools Holloway has ever known. His 40% shooting from three-point range should appeal to schools at the high and mid-major levels.
