Aaron Rodgers calls out college football for targeting rule: ‘Are you s—ting me? It’s absolutely ridiculous’

Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers has never been shy about sharing his opinion publicly on a number of topics, and you can add the college football targeting rules to that list.

“We just gotta be careful going too far with some of these rules. It’s like what college did with targeting. Are you s–tin’ me? Like, it’s absolutely ridiculous,” Rodgers said in a recent appearance on The Pat McAfee Show. “You’re ruining these kids’ and teams’ opportunities by subjective calls…”

Rodgers certainly isn’t alone on this take, as there have been several controversial targeting calls throughout college football over recent seasons with some who believe that there have been players called for targeting on hits that were nasty but still perfectly legal.

“What college football has done with targeting is ridiculous,” Rodgers said. “We gotta be careful with how far we go with some of these rules.”

There’s a middle-ground for everything, but this is one that looks to remain a touchy subject for years to come.
