College football recruiting often comes down to the granular details.
As he prepares to defend last season’s Super Bowl title with the Philadelphia Eagles, AJ Brown gave a hilarious reason to Pardon My Take on why he elected to commit to Ole Miss instead of Georgia coming out of high school. Georgia’s uniform apparently didn’t catch the 3-time Pro Bowl wide receiver’s eye.
“I didn’t choose Georgia because I don’t like wearing black socks. That may be crazy but I hate wearing black socks … Putting on black socks with black cleats, it’s just so hideous,” Brown said. “When I put on white I feel so fast, so smooth. It’s like something about it.”
The 4-star prospect definitely fulfilled his potential during his college career. Decked out in his white socks for the Rebels, the Mississippi native earned First-team All-SEC nods in back-to-back seasons (2017-18).
The Tennessee Titans selected Brown in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft. Brown spent his first 3 seasons as a pro with the Titans and is entering his fourth season with the Eagles in 2025.
During last season’s Super Bowl run, Brown recorded 12 receptions for 163 yards and 2 touchdowns in the playoffs.
