AJ Swann’s injury status revealed ahead of Vanderbilt-Florida, per report

Published:
AJ Swann is available for Vanderbilt as it faces Florida on Saturday, but Clark Lea will turn to Ken Seals as his starter behind center, according to ESPN’s Pete Thamel.
Swann hasn’t played since Sept. 23 against Kentucky, throwing 3 interceptions and 0 touchdowns in a game where he was just 16-of-40 for 189 yards. That came after back-to-back 300-plus yard, 3-touchdown outings against Wake Forest and UNLV.
Sources: Vanderbilt will start back-up quarterback Ken Seals against Florida today. Starter AJ Swann will be available, but he’s still recovering from an elbow injury. This will mark Seals’ 18th start for Vanderbilt, including against Missouri last week.

Swann’s performance against Kentucky stemmed from an elbow contusion that originally occured against UNLV and saw him exit briefly before coming back out to finish the game. He was unable to finish out the Kentucky game, though, with Seals entering in relief.
In a 38-21 loss to Missouri in Week 5, Seals was 20-of-31 for 259 yards, 2 touchdowns, and 1 interception while adding a short touchdown on the ground.
The Commodores are looking to snap a 4-game losing streak as they face the Gators in Gainesville. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. ET on the SEC Network.
