Alabama already held one quarterback prospect in the 2026 recruiting class after flipping Nebraska recruit Jett Thomalla from Iowa State. However, Kalen DeBoer and his staff weren’t done adding pieces at the position, picking up another on Tuesday.

This time, the commitment comes from Tayden Kaawa, a 4-star recruit originally out of Hawaii. He plays for Orem High School in Utah and is a multisport athlete who also shines on the basketball court.

BYU was also in the mix for Kaawa, but he wound up committing to Alabama as the 2nd QB piece for the Tide:

Kaawa is listed at 6-foot-5 and 235 pounds and is one of the top quarterback prospects nationally for the cycle. According to the 247 Sports Composite, Kaawa is a 4-star recruit and the 26th QB in the country. He’s also the No. 6 overall player out of Utah for the cycle.

During the 2024 season, Kaawa posted over 3,500 yards of offense with 35 total touchdowns. Here’s a look at what Kaawa brings to the table via his Hudl highlights:

This offseason has been a massive success for DeBoer with recruiting results heating up for the Crimson Tide. Kaawa brings Alabama up to 20 hard commitments, a group that ranks 4th nationally in the entire country per the team composite.
